The Highlands

Cobbleston

A small village settled in the hills. The inhabitants joke that the village was founded by pilgrims who just couldn’t bear to continue another step on the arduous hike towards Rippletide.
The party passed through Cobbleston and stopped to investigate a necromantic curse on the village. After lifting the curse, and destroying two enormous skeletal giants, the party learned that the curse originated from one of two mysterious black-cloaked figures. Suspecting cultists of Thanaset, the party set out to investigate the figure’s suspected origin point of Wellspring.

The party would later return for a celebration of their victory, only to discover the town under siege by a False Hydra. Though they were eventually victorious, the town’s population was decimated and Kirian was killed.

Everhold

A large settlement that revolves entirely around the famous Everhold Amphitheatre. As a result the vast majority of the town’s citizenry are devoted artists of one sort or another. Bards and other performers are generally assumed to have “made it” only after performing to good reviews on an Everhold stage, and become legends for holding an audience in the Amphitheatre itself.

Fallscourt

Named for the magnificent Hornsburg Falls the city overlooks, Fallscourt has expanded into a large city almost in spite of its remote location. The Grand Duke Arthur Ian Nerath has his palace here and it is from here that he opposes Queen Yvonne Melissa Nerath. The other settlements in The Highlands have started to work together under his rule and travel in this region is safer than most as a result of this coordination and dedication to improving their lot.

Highlands Arena

Every region has an arena that invites potential champions to battle for the amusement of the crowds. Generally these duels are not to the death, but accidents happen and sometimes grudges need settling. Gambling on these battles is one of the common pastimes of those who can afford it, and make it to the arenas safely.

Hornburg Mountains

The vast mountain range that borders the south east of the Former Lands are generally considered to be impassible. Efforts by The Grand Duke Arthur Ian Nerath to improve the roads of the region have shown that it may not be impossible, but for now these are considered a natural national border.

Rippletide

A small fishing village that is just barely self sufficient. The village probably could not survive without the occasional trade that comes from ships circling the coast of The Basin. The village has recently come to some notoriety due to rumours of the discovery of Silver Empire age artefacts in the nearby Maiyawood.
Upon coming to Rippletide, the party discovered that Trustworthy Shipping has been constructing a massive harbour and shipyard in Rippletide, one far larger than the company’s humble demeanor would imply it capable of. This sprawling facility is the home of the Soul of Discretion, the vessel that serves as the company’s headquarters and apparent home to Phillipe.

Stonegard

The largest city in The Highlands, Stonegard has embraced the arrival of Grand Duke Arthur Ian Nerath in Fallscourt and the citizens are almost fanatically devoted to his rise in power. The city has been rapidly retooled to support adventurers and mercenaries who are looking for work pacifying the monsters of the Highlands, and eventually all of the Former Lands.
Allinav’s hometown.

The Maiyawood

A fairly unremarkable forest that has suddenly seen a great deal of interest due to rumours of the discovery of Silver Empire age artefacts deep inside it. The wood is now bustling with adventurers, treasure hunters, and ambitious merchants but if there is any definitive proof of actual treasure, it has yet to be widely shown.

The Spectrewood

Despite its name the Spectrewood seems to be noteworthy only in a perhaps slightly above average population of mountain goats.

Tomb of Kings

Silver Empire Age ruins stand over a small cave. At the back of the cave is an ancient, weathered statue whose features have long since been worn away by time. Despite the grandiose name, its true purpose has been lost to history.
The party journeyed here at the behest of Sam to recover a Lich’s phylactery which had been concealed here and guarded by an Aboleth.
